Looking to create a new office space for their Paris based team, leading global biotech company Vertex required a new workplace environment built around wellbeing, sustainability and innovation.
Moving from a significantly smaller site to a 10,000 sqft space in Paris’ 17th arrondissement, Vertex tasked Area with the creation of a workspace built around community and wellbeing while reflecting the company’s brand values.
Working in collaboration with workplace consultants 360 Workplace, Area created a detailed office strategy and employee engagement exercise prior to commencing the design phase.
Having successfully completed several European workplace projects for Vertex, Area took a holistic approach when designing the brand’s ‘next generation’ office space. With a comprehensive understanding of space utilisation, environmental conditions and user behaviour from insights collected prior to Vertex’s move, Area’s design team developed an intelligence-led concept with wellbeing and sustainability at its core.
The new workplace is developed across two levels linked by an interconnected staircase. The main welcome area located on the first floor includes a reception, multipurpose wellbeing room and boardroom, breakout space with juice bar, a library and townhall space and outdoor terrace. The floor above hosts the ‘working areas’, offering a range of open-plan workspaces, offices and meeting rooms. The whole design emphasises transparency, a key value in Vertex’s culture, with client presentation and breakout spaces integrated within primary work areas.
